“Love you. Do you. Be you.” – Unknown

When was the last time you did something for yourself? I am not referring to your daily walk in the park or at work (which are both great and which you should continue to do). I mean-when have you taken time to celebrate you, the hard working 9-5 woman you are?

I am a firm believer in taking time for yourself on a regular basis. There is no such thing as having “no time.”You must make time. We all have 24 hours in a day.

Over the next four weeks I am going to list 20 ways I incorporate “me time” in my life. I hope these ideas will motivate you to do the same.

  1. Meditation

As with anything, I study the benefits of an idea before I engage in it. I have read a couple of books and articles on meditation. A former life coach told me about the app, Insight Timer, and it has been a great help for beginners like myself. It has many guided meditations for beginners ranging in time from 1-30 minutes. Start small. Recognizing the power of being in the present is a beautiful thing, and you will be amazed at how calm and relaxed you feel after just 1-2 minutes of meditation.

2. Sit in your car at a park

There is a park near my house that I occasionally I go to after work. I take this time to think and reflect on life, listen to children play, or listen to birds sing. It is a time of reflection and clearing of the mind.

3. Buy your favorite meal once a week

I love Mahi-Mahi, and from time to time I treat myself to one of my favorite meals: Mahi-Mahi with mac-n-cheese and green beans. Yum!

4. Scheduled reading time

I am a planner by nature; therefore, planning for reading is no exception to the rule. I read 15-30 minutes most nights before I go to bed. Reading before bed calms me and prepares me to sleep. There is nothing like a good book to help you fall asleep.

5. Hire a cleaning service at least once in your lifetime

It is a beautiful thing to get off work and come home to a clean house once a month. There are specials on Groupon; so check them out. You deserve a break from cleaning.

These are 5 things I do on a regular basis. Keep in mind, however, everything is intentional. None of these tasks just happen; I make myself do them, and I feel great afterwards.

Which one of these can you start today?

Let me know…

See you next week for 5 more.

Keep winning and creating harmony in your life.
