Valentine’s Day has always been one of my favorite holidays – next to my birthday of course (which is my favorite). Some people do not celebrate Valentine’s Day and other people think it is overrated. There are also people who go overboard for this day of love. I heard Steve Harvey say, “Valentine’s Day is a day for women.” I will not disagree with him, even though I am sure some men like it as well. what about buying something sweet for yourself?

Here’s a thought, what about buying something sweet for yourself? Even if you are in a relationship you don’t have to wait for your partner to get you that special item you want. I have coached many women who said they hated Valentine’s Day because they were not with anyone. I asked them: “If you were with someone what would you want them to purchase for you?” They would say a “teddy bear or some roses.” I suggested they could buy that for themselves. It was like a light bulb went off. They were waiting for someone to do it for them.

Get creative and do something for yourself.

Here are 5 simple things you can do this week for yourself for Valentine’s Day

  1. Take yourself to a nice dinner.

Go ahead and treat yourself to some fine dining. How often do you treat yourself to an upscale restaurant?

2. Have a girlfriend’s dinner.

Get dressed up and go to an upscale a la carte restaurant with the girls. I have done this a couple of times, and it was fun getting dolled up “just because.”

3. Send flowers to yourself.

Why not? Or you can purchase them for yourself from your local florist. You could go to Pikes Market in Seattle and pick your own. See the pictures below I took when I visited Pikes Market in 2018.

4. Buy a gigantic stuffed animal.

I love stuffed animals, and my favorite one is Garfield. Yes, I am a Garfield freak and have been since I was a little girl. I guess you know the answer to whether or not I have stuffed animals!

5. Take a chocolate break.

Who said chocolate was bad? I certainly didn’t. Go ahead and have your favorite chocolate ice cream or candy. What do you have to lose?

Don’t wait until Valentine’s Day to treat yourself; go out and do it today. The list here is to get you started. Feel free to share with me your ideas for how to treat yourself on Valentine’s Day ideas. I would love to read your ideas.

Keep winning and creating harmony in your life.
