You can have confidence to do anything you want.
“Confidence is the belief in your ability to figure things out.”–
Brendon Bouchard
Do you believe you can figure things out like the quote states?
My definition of confidence is simply believing in yourself. You may not have it all figured out (many of us don’t), but you must believe you can accomplish anything.
Here are 5 tips to help you gain the confidence you need to go change the world (or your world):
- Believe in Yourself.
What are you believing for yourself every-day?
Everything begins with your thoughts. One of my coaches told me “Whatever you believe, you are 100% correct.” These words changed my life.
Think about it; if you believe it, many times no one else can convince you otherwise. I am often asked about entrepreneurship and how it works. I tell people it starts with your thoughts. If you believe you can, then you will.
Steve Jobs said he would create something we did not know we needed. People laughed at him and said he was crazy, and voila, he created the IPhone.
2. Self-Talk.
What are you telling yourself every day?
Whatever you are thinking is expressed outwardly in your actions and speech. If you are constantly calling yourself fat then you will believe you are fat (compared to others) and most likely will not take the steps to lose weight to get to your desired weight.
Be careful of the words you speak to yourself.
3. Vision.
What do you want in life?
Companies have visions. Dr. Martin Luther King had a vision. What about a vision for your life? Do you have one? If you do, great, make sure you are following it. If you don’t, take some time and make a list of the things you want to achieve in this life.
Think about the impact you want to have on someone else. This will take some time so don’t rush.
4. Your Circle.
Who are you hanging around?
The crowd you keep is a future indicator of where you are headed. I cannot stress this enough.
Who is in your ear and influencing you?
Your confidence levels cannot improve if you are around people who constantly complain, gossip, are not happy, or are Debbie downers.
As you grow and develop in life your circle should as well. Life will teach you who your friends are and are not.
5. Meditation.
Are you meditating?
Learn to sit in silence to clear your mind and focus on the present. I have written about this in past blogs. It doesn’t take much to start; just download an app or go to YouTube and start.
Start with one minute then gradually increase your time. Meditation helps you to focus on the here and now and to be aware of your surroundings. It has helped me to realize I am enough in the moment I am in.
These are 5 simple ways for you to gain confidence in your life. With confidence you will break barriers in your life that you never thought you could break.
Confidence is about starting and not worrying about where you will end up. I believe it is better to try, than to live a life wondering “what if.”
