Striking a balance between one’s personal life and work is not an easy task for women who work from 9 – 5. This is why balance is not a real thing, and why we must seek harmony. To all the hard working women out there who strive so hard to take care of themselves, family, loved ones, and still try to hard chase their dreams-YOU ROCK!

In today’s world women are taking the lead in every field of work. Due to our unbelievable strength, we find a way to keep our priorities straight. Some people wonder if working women still need anything; some even have the feeling that a 9 – 5 working woman does not need anything at all.

Well, we know that is NOT true! Here are three things working women want that may not be invisible to others and how to attain them.

1. Working women want recognition

Everyone loves to be complimented and appreciated for work well done. Even the most successful people want positive comments and encouragement to keep them going while striving for the best. So, if you have a working woman around you-be it your mother, sister, friend, or wife, take time out to appreciate their efforts. You will be surprised how that can go a long way to boost their morale and confidence. A simple thank you goes a long way.

Do this: If you are not getting the appreciation you deserve from your manager, let them know. Sometimes leaders get caught up in the day-to-day, mundane tasks and forget how awesome you are.

2. Working women want career growth and advancement

Have you ever had a job that left you depressed rather than fulfilled? It was frustrating, right? Well, yes as a working woman it is time to challenge yourself and bring out the best from within you. You have that power and the potential to do anything you want. So just erase any doubt and take on that new role, job, or project that will lead to your growth and advancement. You will never know you can do it if you don’t try.

Do this: Set up quarterly meetings with your manager. Do not wait for the mid-year or annual review. Your career is your responsibility. Many people are willing to help those whom are willing to help themselves.

3. Working women want Flexibility and support

As a working woman, wife, or mother, taking on responsibilities is never an easy task. As a working woman you want and deserve a flexible work schedule. This makes it possible to have harmony in your work and personal life. Creating flexibility in your life begins with making decisions about what you want and creating a plan to get there. Write them down, and make time for what you want.

Do this: Let your manager know your schedule, be open with them about what is going on in your world. Ask for flexibility. You will not get it if you don’t ask.

These are just three of many wants of a working woman. Do you have some to share?
